Description
The Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually NWR was developed with the help of the Nisqually Tribe, The People of the River and Grasses.
Every year the National Wildlife Refuge staff, we Volunteers, together with the Nisqually celebrate the Nisqually River Watershed Festival.
The tribe's Canoe Family Singers open the ceremony with songs and blessings.
It is a great community gathering, with the visitors learning about the history of the land, the Nisqually River watershed and the wildlife with many crafts, visiting wildlife professionals, such as a falconeer, Great Horned owl presenter, and so on.
Even a local story teller and great bird costumes for the children to parade in.
Wonderful fun and education for all.

Thank you, Bob. The kids are so lovely in their regalia and add a lot to the ceremonies.
